Sewer Line Repair: What You Need To Know

When you call us as your Atlanta Plumber of choice, we want you to be as well informed as possible about everything to do with your plumbing in Atlanta. One of the areas  where we think that an informed consumers is our best customer is when it comes to sewer line repair.

Many people don’t understand that if your home was built in the middle of the 1960s the chances are your sewer line is built from cast iron. There’s really nothing wrong with that but you should know that the average life span of this material is about  40 to 60 years, but you should be looking at having it replaced after 35 years.

A build up of rust is one of the indicators that any length of cast iron is at or near the end of its life. As cast iron rusts, there is also a build up on the inside of the pipe that constricts movement.  Although you can clean out these sewer line pipes with a snake, there comes a time when the pipe itself gets old enough that it needs to be replaced and that’s where Atlanta plumbing professionals come in.
