Lady Gaga’s Former Assistant Sues for Unpaid Wages

Would you like to work for a celebrity? Do you think it would be enjoyable and fun?
Well, you might what to think again.

Crazy Celeb Demands

Your Atlanta plumber brings you snippets of crazy celebrity orders and demands compiled by RadarOnline.com, which has enumerated these stories and the gripes by their assistants.
Rebecca White, a former assistant of Lady Gaga, the talented and lovely singer who instead of wearing rollers, wears cans in her hair, is suing her for unpaid earnings. The former assistant of the "Born This Way" singer says that she was not paid wages for tasks that supposedly included being told to sleep in Lady Gaga’s bed as she did not sleep alone.

Phone Thrower

White has been a celebrity assistant before so you would think she would have been used to it by now or at least gotten some immunity to the famous peoples’ eccentricities, but it seems she hasn’t. White once was an assistant to Naomi Campbell, the notorious telephone thrower.
The former celeb assistant said that the hotel room’s bathrooms that Naomi Campbell stays in had to be outfitted with five scented candles. In addition, there had to be 10 more in the living room and 10 in the bedroom. This White had to do before the celeb arrived.

Bonnie Low-Kramen, co-founder of a group of celebrity assistants that is called the New York Celebrity Assistants, offered even more interesting stuff, such as a story about a celebrity who was in the habit of greeting assistants naked!

In the case of this crazy action by the celebrity, their assistant was not confident enough or did not feel empowered enough to express their discomfort to the celebrity.
More Toilet Paper Please!

Yet another of these celebrities we love so much called his aide while the assistant was in the city of New York and the celeb was across the Atlantic and asked the aide to call the hotel that he was staying at and tell them to take more toilet paper up to his room.

Low-Kramen, giving the story to the site said that the celebrity was five hours ahead as they were in London, the assistant was in New York, and yet he was demanding that she call his hotel to ask for more toilet paper. Really?

Your Atlanta plumber notes that its not all horror stories from the super-rich, there are many upsides to serving them too. White confirmed that she stayed rent-free in a loft in New York that belonged to Claire Danes, one of her clients. She was also paid a good $2,000 a week.

For this amount and other perks, calling an assistant for toilet paper will be taken with a laugh even.

Plumbing Company Challenges HHS Mandate

Plumber brings you this news story, which we will continue to follow for you. Any stories that may be plumbing related will be featured and highlighted by us, plumbers.

HHS Mandate

A Missouri-based plumbing-goods manufacturer becomes the most recent company to join the fight in court that is challenging the abortion pill mandate by the Obama administration.
Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys, together with allied attorneys, filed in federal court on Monday, a case on behalf of their client, Sioux Chief Manufacturing Co., regarding the HHS mandate. The abortion pill mandate will force employers, despite their moral or religious convictions, to make available some form of insurance coverage for contraception, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs. Heavy penalties are threatened for not complying with the mandate.

A Drain on Freedom

One of over 2,000 allied attorneys working with the Alliance Defending Freedom, Jonathan R. Whitehead, said that American citizens should have the freedom to honor God, as well as live their lives as their consciences guided them to, no matter where they were.
Whitehead further said that Americans have the freedom to transact business and live as their faith required of them. And that these were God-given freedoms. The attorney also pointed out that the First Amendment protected these same freedoms. Whitehead pointed out that the proposed mandate would be forcing citizens to ignore their faith in order to earn a living, which was unconstitutional, unnecessary and unprecedented.

Government Told to Stay out of Faith Issues

The case Sioux Chief Manufacturing vs. Sebelius has Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys as co-counsels. Kevin Theriot, the senior counsel for the attorneys group also added his voice to the issues, saying that the Constitution did not allow government to occupy itself in matters of religion by trying to decide what faith was, who the faithful were, when they could live out their faith, as well as where. Theriot said that confining faith to people’s churches or homes was not the work of the Washington bureaucrats as the freedom was not government-driven but God-given.

Kansas City-based Sioux Chief Manufacturing Co., was founded by Martin E. “Ed” Ismert, Jr. in 1975 and is one of the leading wholesalers and manufacturers of plumbing supplies and products. The business continues to be family owned and run. The members are of the Catholic faith.
Also involved in similar lawsuits against the mandate are Louisiana College, the Seneca Hardwood Lumber Company, Geneva College, Hercules Industries, Grace College and Seminary and Biola University, Tyndale House Publishers, Grote Industries and Annex Medical, all of which are part of the litigation.

Plumber services will continue giving you updates on this case and other stories of interest to you and to Atlanta plumbing followers.

Green Plumbing Means A Better World

The buzz on the street these days is “green.” Green and eco-friendly garbage bags, cars, even green houses! So what about plumbing? Is there any way to make plumbing green? If so, is it super expensive? Let's find out.

Is Green Plumbing Really Expensive?

Most people who are doing a home remodel wonder about going green – it sounds so expensive, which is what scares most homeowners away from going green. The truth is, with home plumbing, it's not much more expensive to “go green,” and if there is a higher cost upfront, green plumbing will pay off in the long-term through lower energy costs and water bills.

Why Should I Go With Green Plumbing?

Not only can green plumbing save you more money on your bills, you're also going to be living with cleaner water, a healthier home, while conserving those precious drops of water. Going green with plumbing means that we're passing on a healthier world to our children.

What Does Green Plumbing Mean?

Green plumbing sounds like a pretty nebulous word – what does it mean to “go green with your plumbing?” Here's a breakdown of ways that you can have green plumbing in your very own home!

Insulate the pipes in exterior walls, as these pipes, which are exposed to Atlanta winters, are responsible for a large amount of heat loss while the water travels to the various faucets in your home. Insulated pipes can cut down the cost of utility bills.

Get an On-Demand Hot Water Circulation Pump – these fancy pumps send hot water to the faucets in your home in mere seconds, reducing the energy lost from unused hot water and reducing water wasted as you allow your pipes to “warm up” by running the sinks or the shower.

Buy a high-efficiency hot water heater, which can reduce the home heating costs tremendously each month.

Install low-flush toilets – believe it or not, toilet flushing is the biggest waste of water in your home – approximately 28 gallons of water per person, per day. Low-flush toilets can reduce the amount of water used, as well as reducing your water bill.

Install low-flow showers and faucets – these awesome appliances can reduce home water usage by 60%! They're also great for reducing the amount of water used, thereby cutting the bills in half.

Turns out that going green with your Atlanta plumbing is an excellent investment that you can totally feel proud of. Everyone should leave the world a better place.
